Our team at Northwest Professional Obstetrics & Gynecology offers personalized medical services for women of all ages. Using state-of-the-art technology, we can diagnose and treat a variety of conditions including menstrual disorders, urinary incontinence, m osteoporosis, and much more. In addition, laboratory services are available on-site to check for infections in a timely and efficient manner.
We offer a variety of women’s care services including:
At Northwest Professional Obstetrics & Gynecology, we provide prenatal care, management of the labor and delivery process. We can provide a very personalized experience with a certified nurse-midwife as your partner during your pregnancy and delivery.
From prenatal care to postpartum follow-up care, we offer exceptional services to fit your needs. For most women, pregnancy is routine and uncomplicated. For other women, the pregnancy may be considered high-risk due to prior medical conditions, family history, age, or obstetrical reasons. Our clinic includes an in-office ultrasound evaluation and fetal monitoring with non-stress testing for high-risk pregnancies, including multiple gestations.
We encourage women to come in prior to pregnancy for risk assessment and counseling regarding optimizing pregnancy outcome. Our staff provides genetic counseling and, when indicated, amniocentesis for diagnosis. We commonly treat high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, and thyroid disorders in pregnancy.
We provide annual screening and health maintenance examinations with an emphasis on preventative care. We have been doing FDA certified mammographies in our office since 1994. We have a state-of-the-art digital mammogram machine. The advantages of digital options are a higher resolution picture for the radiologist to read with a lower amount of radiation exposure to the patient.
Menstrual disorders are a common complaint among women. We provide treatment for all forms of menstrual complaints, whether it is absent periods, heavy periods, or painful periods. When a specific disease is diagnosed, we present a woman with all her options-medical and surgical, conservative and aggressive. Together with the patient, we decide on the most appropriate treatment for her.
We counsel women on both trying to achieve a pregnancy as well as prevent a pregnancy. We offer all forms of contraception including Mirena IUD’s.
The menopause is a time of transition. For some women, this can be an easy change. For others, there can be a great difficulty. As a woman’s ovaries stop producing hormones, this can lead to changes in many body systems and the development of new problems. We are experienced in addressing these new concerns. We are able to evaluate and treat heavy periods. We address the concerns many women have but don’t talk about such as sexual functioning or urinary incontinence. We offer Urodynamics testing in the office. This helps us to diagnose which type of urinary incontinence a patient may have. An “overactive” bladder is treated with medication. Leaking urine with coughing or running may require surgery or just exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles. We continue with preventive care at this time also. The emphasis is now on screening for specific diseases that increase with age such as breast cancer and osteoporosis. We provide mammography in the office. We have state-of-the-art screening for osteoporosis with our bone density machine. Whether or not to initiate hormone therapy is something that is discussed with each patient based on her specific situation. Together with her we come to a decision. We can also offer a personalized hormone replacement plan.
Gynecologic surgery is an integral part of our practice. We are trained and skilled in all forms. Minimally invasive techniques of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy have enabled women to return to normal activity within a day or two. We are able to treat endometriosis, pelvic masses and uterine fibroids with these techniques preserving the pelvic organs. We also perform laparoscopic hysterectomies. We now offer, in our office, hysteroscopies with Thermachoice Endometrial Ablations for menstrual disorders.
Infertility is defined as the inability to become pregnant despite trying regularly for approximately one year. There are many reasons why this may occur. There can be factors related to the woman, the man or both. Based on the couple’s history an individualized diagnostic and treatment plan is developed.
We also perform ESSURE tubal sterilizations in our office. Traditional abdominal and vaginal surgery still has its role for some patients. After a complete evaluation, we would offer a recommendation for the most appropriate technique.
Pap Smears, Colposcopy, and LEEP
The Pap smear is a critical component to a pelvic exam. We offer a complete evaluation of the abnormal Pap Smear including colposcopy, cryotherapy, LEEP, and cone biopsies. A colposcopy uses a microscope to examine your cervix. This allows us to see exactly where the cells are that are making your Pap smear abnormal. If appropriate, we can then biopsy those areas to confirm the abnormal pap smear diagnosis.
LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) is a procedure in which an abnormal area of the cervix is removed (after an abnormality is noted on a Pap smear and Colposcopy). It allows us to send a specimen to the pathologist for further evaluation of the degree of the abnormality so that we can determine the best course of treatment for you. It also allows us to ensure we were able to remove the entire area where the abnormal cells lie. This is done right in our office with local anesthesia.
We offer Urodynamics testing in the office. This helps us to diagnose which type of urinary incontinence a patient may have. An “overactive” bladder is treated with medication. Leaking urine with coughing or running may require surgery or just exercises to strengthen the pelvic muscles.
Bone Density Scans, Laboratory Services, and More
We offer state-of-the-art screening for osteoporosis with our bone density machine. Our staff can also draw any blood test in our office. This allows us to collect cultures to check for infections. We perform state-of-the-art DNA testing for vaginal infections, with results back the same day. In addition, we can also provide therapeutic and prenatal massage by a certified massage therapist.
